(MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Sept. 1, 2015) – Chase Briscoe will make his second ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start with Cunningham Motorsports when the series hits Salem Speedway later this month.
In spite of numerous visits to witness USAC and ARCA races at Salem, the 20-year-old from nearby Mitchell, Indiana, has never turned any laps on the .555-mile track in southern Indiana, only 20 minutes from his home.
“A huge thank you goes out to Briggs (Cunningham), Kerry (Scherer) and everyone at the shop,” Briscoe said. “They sacrifice so much for me and they are all such good people to work with. It will be really special to have such a local presence at Salem. Hopefully, we can go out and get a great finish!”
In July, Briscoe made his ARCA Racing Series debut at Lucas Oil Raceway in the No. 72 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge, starting fifth and finishing 10th. Throughout the summer he has made a couple of sprint car starts. For example, he finished fifth at the Hoosier Sprint Nationals and eighth at the Sheldon Kinser Memorial. His most recent scheduled race was to be Saturday night at Macon Speedway, but it was rained out.
Briscoe will be guided around the Salem high banks by Crew Chief Mark Rette, who won the 2009 ARCA Racing Series championship with Justin Lofton. Rette currently is a co-owner, with ARCA competitor Terry Jones, of Rette Jones Racing.
Practice begins for the one-day Federated Car Care ARCA Fall Classic on Saturday, September 19 from 12:30-1:15 ET, followed by final practice from 1:45-2:30. Menards Pole Qualifying is scheduled for 4, with 200 laps of racing beginning at 7:15.
